This exceptionally comfortable, heirloom quality, rocking chair is made from American black walnut, with ash wood accents. Two chairs (this and a similar chair) are currently available, but other chairs can be made to order from your choice of wood such as walnut, cherry, or maple, with the finish of your choice. The chairs are comfortable for a wide range of people sizes, but the size can be adjusted to your preference. |

One of the special features is the floating back slats, which flex to conform to your back and provide excellent lumbar support. The back slats are created by laminating several layers of wood... in this case, the outer layers are walnut to match the primary wood in the chair, and the middle layer is ash (often used for tool handles) for strength and flexibility, as well as adding an attractive contrasting color. |
Contrasting wood can be used to accent the leg-to-rocker joint. |

Each chair takes hundreds of hours of labor. The two existing chairs can be tried by appointment - then the price of $4,000 each will seem quite reasonable. Most custom chairs can be delivered in 2-3 months. The price will be set and a 50% deposit required before work begins. Expect a custom chair to be approximately the same price.
