Vanity Dresser

The customer requirement was for a vanity dresser to fit a particular space... it had to be 48 inches wide, 20 inches deep and 28 inches high. The wood chosen was sipo, a mahogany substitute, stained to match a specific color sample.

The initial 24 inch wide by 36 inches high mirror was upgraded to 36 by 36 inches.

The drawer sizes were to the customer specifications. The drawers on each side rode on wooden rails between the drawers. The center drawer rode on wooden rails in grooves in the side of the drawer (to save space under the drawer). As specified, the top of the vanity was set back a couple inches in the center.

Full overlay drawer fronts on the side drawers were provided with an attached drawer front; all drawers were made with dovetail joints.

No plywood allowed... so the ends were floating raised panels. The knee space was flat floating panels, to save weight.

The stool specifically had to have sides higher than the cushion, and be wider than the knee space. Okay, this is custom furniture. But you might want to consider a stool that could slide into the knee hole, at least end-wise, and be sat on from either direction. The customer provided the upholstery material for the seat, which was installed on padding we provided.
